Support for Democratic School Board Candidates
|
As an initiative, Democratic Education Initiative of the Colorado Democratic Party (CoDEI) has played a leadership role in the examination and discussion of important education policy issues for twenty years! We also serve as a resource for candidates running for education positions or on education issues.
The CoDEI is asking all county party chairs and members of the State Central Committee to help us identify Democrats who are running for school boards this year. The CoDEI is happy to advise, coach, and support these candidates. The sooner we know who is running – or who is thinking of running – the sooner we can be of assistance. Additionally, each odd-numbered year, the CoDEI holds an event in late August to give Democratic candidates for school boards around the state an opportunity to speak to fellow Democrats.
Please email us at [email protected] with names and contact information of any Democrat you know is a candidate or is contemplating becoming one for their local school board.

Biden’s $1.8 Trillion American Families Plan Is Supported by Nearly 60% of Voters
Morning Consult
President Joe Biden has spent the past week touting his $1.8 trillion economic spending plan that would reshape how the country thinks about a wide swath of domestic policies, from child care to free community college.
While Biden’s plan faces a long road in Washington, it doesn’t appear to be a hard sell for the electorate. According to a new Morning Consult/Politico poll, 58 percent of voters say they support the package.

Rep. DeGette wants to help Denver buy a hotel to house people experiencing homelessness
Denverite
DeGette, who represents the city, has requested $2 million as part of a federal funding request congress members make to pay for local projects, according to a release from DeGette’s office. The money is one of 10 funding requests her office made to Congress last week for her district, which includes some Denver suburbs.
“Every single person in this community deserves to have a roof over their head when they go to sleep at night,” DeGette said in a release. “Projects like this will provide our residents a safety net, giving those who need it a safe place to sleep and helping them get back on their feet as soon as possible.”

The CLIMBER small business loan program is fully launched!
State Treasurer Dave Young
The CLIMBER Small Business Loan Program is now fully operational! If you own or work in a small business with 5 to 99 employees, this program may be right for you.
I've been working hard for the last year to help get this program off the ground. Starting in March 2020, I worked with the Governor’s Council for Economic Stabilization and Growth and key leaders in the legislature to pass HB20-1413 to establish CLIMBER, which will provide $250 million for working capital loans at below-market interest rates.
This program is housed at the Colorado Treasurer’s Office and runs with support from the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT).
As your State Treasurer, I'll continue to do everything I can to ensure Colorado comes back even stronger following the financial crisis caused by the pandemic. That's why I'm asking for your support of my re-election campaign so I can continue to oversee programs like CLIMBER to make sure they're properly managed.

At Hearing on Drought, Boebert Is Mum About Water, Calls Witness ‘Extremist, Partisan Hack’
Colorado Times Recorder
Now, despite moisture east of the Rockies, more than 60% of the state is in a severe drought, CPR reports. For western Colorado, this was the driest April on record. Boebert’s district, especially agricultural operations, is facing a crisis.
However, Boebert chose to focus on Klein’s background during her allotted time at the hearing, grilling her on conflicts of interest and ethics. Boebert asked Klein if the DOI ethics office had provided her with a recusal list.
