Hi John,

This morning, we were met with a tragic encapsulation of America’s gun violence crisis: News of a mass shooting interrupted the confirmation hearing for the nominee to serve as director of the only federal agency responsible for addressing gun violence.

David Chipman is President Biden’s nominee to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), a position that has been vacant for more than 15 years. Today, in the middle of his Senate confirmation hearing, aides interrupted to share news that a mass shooting had erupted in San Jose, California.

Details are still unfolding, but we’ve learned that at least eight people were killed and one person was wounded in the shooting at a transportation center. Eight more sons, daughters, coworkers, and friends, stolen in a senseless act of violence.

We should be able to go to work, take public transit, go grocery shopping, attend a concert, and live our lives free from the fear of gun violence. Can you donate today to honor the victims of the San Jose shooting and all acts of gun violence with action?

The San Jose shooting is the 232nd mass shooting this year. There were at least 12 mass shootings between Friday night and Sunday.

We refuse to accept this as the price of living in America. We are fighting day in and day out to put an end to the gun violence epidemic, but we can’t do it alone. Please, give what you can today to help fund our fight.

We don’t have to live like this and we don’t have to die like this.
