CLCV Member,

We think this should be obvious, but sometimes legislators need that extra push. Those who are most affected by pollution and environmental racism deserve to have a seat at the table. That is why we are proud to offer our unwavering support for SB 342.

Authored by Environmental Champion, Senator Lena Gonzalez, this legislation would add two environmental justice representatives who have proven track records of fighting against environmental racism to the governing board of the South Coast Air Quality Management District. This is the agency responsible for improving air quality in the South Coast air basin, which is home to half of the state’s population, has some of the worst air quality in the nation, and includes large areas of Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, and the Coachella Valley.

It is critical that communities most impacted by pollution have a seat at the decision-making table.

SB 342 empowers community involvement, promotes equity, and addresses the needs of communities who are impacted by toxic air pollution. That is why we’re asking you to call or tweet your Senator and urge them to vote YES on SB 342.

Thank you for being a climate justice voter.
