Friend, just a quick follow-up to my note about the NM-01 special election.
Republicans are diving into the muck, trying to paint Democratic nominee, Melanie Stansbury, as pro-crime. It’s an attack that’s as ludicrous as it is desperate.
But I won’t sit back and hope it goes away. House Democrats have a super-thin majority and can’t afford to lose this race. And outside observers believe Republicans are treating this as a trial run for the midterms — if an attack like this helps them steal this seat, it's going to be everywhere next year.
This election is just days away — help fight back by splitting a donation with Melanie Stansbury’s campaign right now.
Thank you,
Amy

Friend,
When Deb Haaland was sworn in as Secretary of the Interior, it left her seat in Congress up for grabs.
On June 1st, there’s a special election in New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District — with a razor-thin Democratic majority, we can’t afford to lose this House seat.
Thankfully, Democrats have an incredible nominee in Melanie Stansbury. She’s a New Mexico state representative with a rich background in ecological science, energy conservation and water management, who served in the Obama administration and on the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
Melanie is clearly more than ready to lead in Congress, but special elections are tough. By all accounts, Republicans think they can flip this seat and are planning to go all-in.
Let’s step up right now in a big way for Melanie Stansbury — chip in today and split a donation with her campaign to give her a boost in these final 10 days. [[link removed]]
There’s a reason why all eyes are on this race. Special elections like this one, early on in a new president’s term, are seen as indicators of where political momentum is building. And thanks to lower turnout and awareness, these races sometimes get overlooked until it’s too late.
Republicans won a special election in Texas earlier this month in a landslide. Now, they’re hoping they can repeat that script next door in New Mexico. So far, early voting has been slow, a sign that Democrats on the ground need to find another gear if we want to hold on to this seat.
I’m so proud that Deb Haaland made history becoming our first-ever Native American cabinet secretary, and I want to do my part to make sure that progress doesn’t come at the price of losing her House seat. Melanie Stansbury needs to win this race, and she needs our help to do so — after all, it’s not often that you get to replace one rock star lawmaker with another.
Split a donation with the Stansbury campaign right now and let’s give this race everything we’ve got in the home stretch. [[link removed]]
