Friend, today the Supreme Court hears historic arguments on workplace protections for LGBTQ people -- and their decision could impact the LGBTQ community for generations. The employers in these cases are asking the Supreme Court to rule that they have a right to discriminate and that it is perfectly legal under federal law to fire workers because they are LGBTQ.

Friend, if you believe that <[link removed]>no one <[link removed]> should be fired, harassed, or otherwise targeted at work for being LGBTQ, I hope you’ll donate $25 today to support GLAAD’s vital work protecting LGBTQ people in the workplace. <[link removed]>

If the Court rules that LGBTQ people are not protected by existing federal workplace protections, anti-LGBTQ opponents will rapidly use the same legal reasoning to attempt to overturn critical federal protections in housing, healthcare, credit, education, and more. LGBTQ people could soon find themselves living in a nation where federal law says it is legal for our community to be denied a job, fired, discriminated against at school, denied a loan, rejected by a doctor, and evicted from an apartment, simply because they are LGBTQ.

Even if the Supreme Court rules in favor of the LGBTQ employees, the work would be far from over. LGBTQ Americans still lack explicit workplace protections in 26 states today. The U.S. Senate must still take up and pass the Equality Act to install across-the-board protections for LGBTQ Americans.

GLAAD’s media team is on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court today to ensure reporters are covering the news in fair and accurate ways.

Your donation today is about much more than money, friend. It’s about joining the fight to push for full equality in the workplace for all LGBTQ people, no matter what state we live in. We can no longer be considered second-class citizens under the law, and during a fight as important as this one, we cannot afford to stay silent.

I hope you’ll donate $25 now to fight with GLAAD for all LGBTQ people to be treated equally in the workplace:
