Hi Friend,
This spring’s Texas legislative session is coming to a close in five short days. That’s right, Friend -- as tough as it’s been, we’re finally ready to close this chapter.
You already know that this legislative session was incredibly rough -- with Republicans attacking pretty much everyone in every way possible. However, as this session is wrapping up, I want to share some good news. For all the nasty legislation Republicans pushed forward, Democrats managed to block a whole lot of it.
Our Democratic champions are fighting for us every day. But they can’t do it alone.
When push comes to shove -- like it did this session -- it's up to us to carry the fight. If we want to defeat Republicans, we need to register more voters and reach more people -- and we’ve got to lay the groundwork now. Friend, will you chip in $7 before our end-of-month fundraising deadline to build Democratic power?

When we elect Democrats, we elect leaders who put our communities first. As our Policy and Advocacy Strategist here at the Texas Democratic Party, I’ve had a front row seat as our Democratic lawmakers fought tirelessly these past five months. Thanks to them, here are a few terrible Republican bills that aren't becoming law:
- Senate Bill 29, a cruel, anti-child bill which would have banned trans kids from playing sports on teams that match their gender identities
- House Bill 1424, which would have allowed doctors to discriminate against LGBTQ+ Texans and made it harder for people to get health care
- House Bill 68, which aimed to stop trans youth from getting lifesaving gender-affirming health care
- More than FORTY anti-voter bills that would have made it harder for Texans to cast their ballot
- And that’s just a few of the awful Republican bills that Democrats have stopped!
All spring, I watched our Democratic lawmakers pull all-nighters, rally their communities, and put Republicans in the hot seat to block these harmful bills. Now, it’s our turn -- to persist, invest, and organize.
