Dear allies,

We have been facing tough challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Together, we are overcoming these challenges, working towards recovery and shaping the future of our communities.

We urge you to raise your voice and join us in demanding that policymakers help Massachusetts communities realize their dream of a brighter future with the aid of funds from the American Rescue Plan Plan Act of 2021 (ARP). On June 5 at 1 p.m., our communities are coming together to shape the future we all deserve. Join us! ([link removed])

We are also calling for an affordable and sustainable public transportation system. The support for a reduced fare system to better serve low-income communities availing MBTA services is growing. We are joining the collective voices of our Public Transit Public Good coalition to ensure that our legislators take action to alleviate the struggles of our community members. Join us in calling for:
1. One environmental justice rider seat and one worker seat on the new MBTA Board, chosen from nominations made by labor and community organizations.
2. Reduced fare programs for low-income riders on all modes.
3. New progressive revenue measures to ensure public transit is paid for by those who have plenty, not by those who are struggling to get by.

Join us and the Greater Boston Labor Council for a diaper drive that will help support families who are struggling during an economic hardship. Drop off diapers & toiletries at the Boston Teachers Union parking lot anytime from 3:30-5 p.m. and stay to meet our honored guest, Mayor Kim Janey, at 4 p.m. Supplies needed include: diapers (sizes 3-6), body wash, lotion, tampons/pads, cologne samples, deodorant and sunscreen.

Action Alert: Flexible child care for MA residents NOW
The pandemic has exposed the inequalities in our state’s child care system. Low-income communities and communities of color have all disproportionately borne the brunt of the pandemic. With the American Rescue Plan funding, our leaders have a unique opportunity to match the federal Child Tax Credit and support our families and caregivers in need. Tell Governor Charlie Baker, Lt Governor Polito, and Environmental Secretary Katie Theohorides to act on energy justice today!

Massachusetts is facing an environmental justice crisis! State programs, like Mass Save, are designed to work with residents and businesses to improve their energy efficiency, ultimately cutting energy expenses and limiting carbon emissions that contribute to climate change. These programs however have failed to service many of the people most in need.

Sign the petition ([link removed]) to urge Governor Charlie Baker, Lt Governor Polito, and Environmental Secretary Katie Theohorides to reject any plan that doesn’t center the needs of environmental justice and low-income communities, and increase access and remove barriers for the underserved and language isolated communities across the state.
