8 Simple Ways You Can Help The Ocean
Dear Friends,
Thank you to everyone that has so generously donated to our Spring 2021 Matching Gift Challenge – we are less than $40,000 away from meeting our goal!
For a limited time, all donations will be matched up to a maximum of $135,000. Double your impact by joining the Matching Gift Challenge today and help Sea Shepherd continue to defend the world’s ocean and all of its inhabitants. This offer is made possible through the generosity of Bruce and Kimberlie Jodar, the Himmel and the Offield families, and other anonymous supporters.

June 8th is World Oceans Day. This year, help us to continue to protect our ocean through eight simple actions that truly make a difference:
1. Donate
By supporting Sea Shepherd, you help to keep our ships on the front lines of ocean conservation. Visit seashepherd.org/support-us and help us continue to protect the ocean.
2. Eliminate Marine Wildlife From Your Diet
Industrial fishing is depleting fish populations more rapidly than they can regenerate. We encourage all who are able to eliminate fish from their diet and to choose more humane and ecologically friendlier alternatives.
3. Get Involved
Every person can make a difference. Sea Shepherd is a global movement powered by the passion of volunteers around the world - people just like you. Visit seashepherd.org/get-involved to learn more about joining our at-sea campaigns or volunteer with your local chapter and participate in beach clean-ups, outreach opportunities, and more!
4. Minimize Waste
Avoid single-use plastics, reduce your carbon footprint, and be mindful of energy consumption.
5. Show Your Support by Purchasing Official Sea Shepherd Merchandise
All of our products go through stringent sustainability production processes, and your purchase helps to fund our direct-action campaigns. By wearing our merch, you help to spread the word about ocean conservation issues. Find your local store at www.seashepherdstore.com.
6. Say No to Captivity
Marine wildlife belongs in the ocean. Avoid dolphinariums and other forms of animal exploitation.
7. Avoid Products That Exploit Marine Wildlife
Squalene, found in many cosmetic products, is often derived from sharks. Avoid shark liver oil, coral, and tortoiseshell jewelry. Even pet food purchasing decisions can make an impact in helping to protect some of the ocean’s most vulnerable species.
8. Leave Nothing Behind
While enjoying the ocean and waterfront this summer, please ensure that you collect and dispose of your trash properly. Leave only footprints in the sand behind!
