As the author of Missing Middle Housing: Thinking Big and Building Small to Respond to Today’s Housing Crisis ([link removed]) , Daniel Parolek inspired a new movement for housing choice in 2010 when he introduced the concept of the “missing middle” in American housing.

Today, Opticos creates innovative architectural designs to help build walkable communities with unique, diverse housing choices that are attainable for all. Parolek spoke at the 2016 AHS Leckey Forum to help introduce the Missing Middle Housing concept to Arlington. Since then, he and his firm have been working with communities across the country to design and implement Missing Middle Housing strategies.

In this webinar, Parolek will give a short summary of his book and introduce the top five mistakes cities and states are making when implementing Missing Middle Housing. His presentation will be followed by a panel discussion on the implications for Arlington. What lessons can the County learn from those mistakes to help solve our Missing Middle Housing puzzle?
