You may have heard about the ongoing "audit" of 2020 election results in Arizona. Actually, it's not an "audit" in any real sense. It's a stunt - which is why some have nicknamed it a "fraudit."

Despite multiple official (real) audits and reviews completed months ago, the Arizona state senate seized ballots from the 2020 election and created a brand new "audit" in the state's largest county, in the hopes of finding evidence of fraud or misconduct.

I'm proud to join with Secretaries of State from across the country in condemning these baseless stunts. Will you join me by adding your name too?

This is a national embarrassment. There are no professional standards or guidelines in place, and leadership of the effort rests with partisan political figures.

The worst part is this: The “audit” is very dangerous. The entire spectacle is meant to cast doubt on elections and on democracy itself. It has sparked calls for similar "audits" in other states where extremists seek distractions or excuses to tighten election laws.
