UK aircraft carrier on the way to the Pacific
The UK’s provocative aircraft carrier strike group set sail from Portsmouth on Saturday – a day earlier than announced, avoiding planned local protest.

At a time when the NHS remains starved of resources, this voyage is a huge waste of money and a dangerous move which will make conflict with China more likely.

The aircraft carrier, which cost over £3 billion to build, will have up to 36 US F-35 fighter jets to fly off its decks. It forms the core of a flotilla with numerous escort vessels, a submarine, helicopters and a strike group company of some 1,600 personnel. The operating cost of the flotilla will be in the tens of billions.

CND has written an open letter to the Prime Minister ([link removed]) objecting to the deployment, alongside activists, politicians and cultural figures.

As the flotilla enters the Pacific later this summer, we’ll be hosting an international protest rally – look out for further details.

Join the Nurses not Nukes Bloc: Saturday 26^th June, central London

[link removed]

CND is organising a Nurses Not Nukes bloc ([link removed]) on the People's Assembly National Demonstration on Saturday 26th June.

Boris Johnson wants to increase Britain's nuclear arsenal for the first time since the Cold War, spending tens of billions in the process.

The government's priorities are completely wrong - we need to oppose the increase in nuclear warheads and spend money on our NHS, not Trident.
If you can travel to London we look forward to seeing you, but if you’re not planning on travelling, please take action locally – with a local CND group or share an image of yourself with a Nurses not Nukes placard on social media!
Support the campaign with a Nurses Not Nukes T-Shirt ([link removed])
Whether or not you're able to join us on the 26th, you can also show your support with our brand new Nurses Not Nukes T-Shirt ([link removed]) . We also have stickers ([link removed]) and badges ([link removed]) available, so there are plenty of ways you can join in and say: Nurses Not Nukes!

You can also find more information about the bloc on our website here. ([link removed])
