Ending childhood poverty and making life easier for American families are two of my top priorities in Congress. That’s why I fought so hard to make sure the expanded Child Tax Credit was included in the final version of the American Rescue Plan and why I’m focused on making those investments permanent.
The expanded Child Tax Credit means more money in families’ pockets and more support for folks raising young kids. Soon, millions of American families will start receiving these monthly tax credits. In my district alone, more than 44,000 families — and more than 145,000 kids — will benefit.
These investments are projected to cut childhood poverty in half — but right now, they’re set to expire after just one year. It’s unacceptable to let millions of American children fall right back into poverty — which is why I’m calling on President Biden to make the expanded Child Tax Credit a permanent benefit for American families.
