<[link removed]>Hi Friend,

This Memorial Day, let’s take a moment to remember the brave Americans who have given their lives for our freedom. It’s important to honor these heroes and the values of our country by doing our part and acting responsibly.

As we gather to also commemorate the unofficial start of summer, we may find ourselves where we only wished we could be this time last year—with a group of friends! Traveling to see family! Jumping into the community pool! These social events that we have longed for are returning, so it’s important to remember to be mindful of our behaviors, the behaviors of others, and how we set examples for our kids while celebrating in settings where there may be alcohol. We can all make responsible decisions every day that will keep us safe, and kick off what’s bound to be a wonderful summer.

Before we head out to our planned events—or even if our plan is to stay at home, let’s review a few tips to keep ourselves and those around us safe:

<[link removed]>Know your limits

If you choose to drink, make sure you understand how alcohol affects your blood alcohol content (BAC). Download the Virtual Bar app <[link removed]> and learn how alcohol may affect you.

Talk to your kids

Kids notice their surroundings and listen more than you might think. Engage in conversations <[link removed]> to let them know that you are taking steps to be a responsible consumer and let them know that drinking underage is not acceptable behavior.

Be the hostess with the mostess

If you’re hosting a gathering and are serving alcohol, make sure you keep your guests well fed, be sure to have plenty of water or other non-alcoholic beverage options for your guests, and respect your guests’ choices if they choose not to drink.

Watch out for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists, and don’t drive drunk, drugged, distracted, or drowsy

When you’re driving, focus on DRIVING. It’s tempting to push forward on road trips, but make sure you’re well rested before getting behind the wheel. And never drive drunk or high.

Have a safe holiday, enjoy the extended weekend, and pay homage to our freedom and those who paid the ultimate price to ensure it endures.

From all of us to all of you, happy Memorial Day!
