Friend —

Last week, you joined us for the 2021 PEN World Voices Festival: Power to the People. This year’s virtual Festival convened a wide range of American and international voices, across languages and borders. We hope you had a wonderful time hearing from so many brilliant, groundbreaking writers over the last few days.

This year’s Festival reminded me, as it always does, of the urgency and necessity of stories—both for bearing witness to our current moment, and for reminding us that we are not alone. The stories and voices we heard throughout this year’s Festival ran the gamut, from reflections on the contested histories of our time, to conversations about the power and pleasures of the profane, to meditations on love as revolution. Please help us continue telling those stories by celebrating literature and the freedom to write.

DONATE NOW

In the wake of a year that has been filled with uncertainty and upheaval, we hope that these events and conversations brought you some clarity, comfort, and company, and that someday soon, we will be able to gather safely in person again. Donate now to support the Festival and our other literary initiatives and programming.

Thank you,

Clarisse Rosaz Shariyf, PEN America
