Hi John –

Hi friends – I'm Congresswoman Val Demings, representative for Florida's 10th Congressional District. I'm reaching out because I need to talk to you about the blatant attack on voting rights happening in my state at this very moment.

There's been a lot of attention on Georgia as ground zero for voter suppression – and rightfully so. But now, Florida's far-right legislators are taking a swing at our fundamental right to vote, and our Trump-loving governor signed it into law live on Fox News. The Florida GOP isn't confident in their policies or leadership, so they're making it exponentially more difficult to vote: from adding new ID requirements to limiting who can vote by mail to restricting ballot drop boxes.

All of this adds up to one singular and dangerous consequence: Millions of voters will find it harder to be heard in the Sunshine State, primarily Black voters and other voters of color.

The GOP's attempt to hinder our right to vote is abominable – and it's happening across the country because they know that Democrats win when voting is easy and fair. So here's what I'm asking of you, friends: Join me in fighting back. I've put together a petition to defend voting rights, and I'm counting on 1,241 signatures – including yours – before 11:59 p.m. tonight. Will you add your name now to oppose the GOP's voter suppression tactics and defend the fundamental right to vote?

SIGN THE PETITION: DEFEND VOTING RIGHTS

Moments like this are when each of us must speak truth to power. Thank you for doing your part.

Congresswoman Val Demings
