John -- We knew Republicans were shameless in their attacks on our democracy, but this is a new low:

Because state executive branches and local officials have so far refused to go along with Republicans’ attempts to manufacture evidence of fraud in the 2020 election, GOP-controlled state legislatures are now moving to sideline those officials and take election administration into their own hands.
It’s safe to say that this could be disastrous for our democracy. The Republican-controlled legislature in Arizona has gone so far as to authorize a troublesome, partisan “audit” of the 2020 election results that even local Republican officials have condemned -- and if the bill this legislature is attempting to pass is copied around the country, we’ll be seeing a lot worse in the future.
The NDRC is working around the clock to fight back and DEFEND voting rights, but we need your help to do it. And thanks to the number of dangerous bills advancing in state legislatures -- in addition to this year’s redistricting process -- our work is now more urgent than ever.
