John xxxxxx,

One year ago today, George Floyd was murdered by a Minneapolis police officer. The officer knelt on his neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds.

In the year since, millions of people across the country have spoken up and taken to the streets to demand justice, accountability, and change that is long, long overdue.

Last month, a Minneapolis jury found the officer guilty of murder. It’s some accountability for the life that was stolen from George Floyd’s family and friends. But there can be no justice for the lives that have been forever changed by his death.

To all those who have marched, spoken out, and raised your voices to demand change: thank you. Thank you for all you have given and continue to give to make this country a better place.

Today, we reflect on George Floyd’s life and recommit ourselves to the work ahead. We must do everything in our power to end police violence in America and change policing in this country.

Keep the faith,

Hakeem
