John --
Violence is something that we all -- left or right, Democrat or Republican -- agree is abhorrent. Right?
House Republicans would disagree.
In March, we witnessed a horrific shooting rampage in Atlanta that targeted three Asian-owned spas and claimed the lives of eight people, including six women of Asian descent. Last week, the House passed a resolution condemning this atrocity, but 180 Republicans voted against it.
Let's repeat that: When it came time to condemn the targeted killing of Asian Americans, 180 Republicans would not sign on.
More broadly, the resolution reaffirmed the commitment of the House and the federal government “to combat hate, bigotry, and violence against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and to prevent tragedies like this from ever happening again.” These should not be controversial statements. Yet, the vast majority of House Republicans found a reason to object.
Republicans have long impeded progress on racial justice in America, whether intentionally or out of ignorance. But this is a new low.
This is why it's so important that we elect AAPI leaders to office. We need representation in Congress so that our voices are heard as we build a path forward to a better society.
That is what we are doing at ASPIRE, but we need your help to keep our work going. We are currently $934 short of today's fundraising goal, which would be another step towards putting the resources in place to elect AAPI leaders and allies to Congress. Please, John, can you rush a $10 contribution by midnight? >> [link removed]

This rash of violence against AAPI Americans will pass, but only if we work together to make it so. Thank you for always being with us when it matters.
