John,

One year ago, George Floyd was murdered at the hands of the police. But it took a cell phone video and nationwide protests for Derek Chauvin to be charged and convicted for his crime.

That’s why I voted to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act earlier this year. For too long, Black, Latino, and other marginalized communities have suffered from a militarized, violent police force, whose tactics are steeped in Jim Crow era policy.

The House did its job and passed the Justice in Policing Act in March. But the fight is far from over: John, add your name to tell the Senate to pass this bill NOW >>> [[link removed]]

Liberty and justice for all isn’t real until EVERYONE is treated the same by the law. That’s why this bill requires anti-discrimination policies and training in police departments. It also prohibits chokeholds and no-knock warrants, creates a federal registry of police misconduct complaints, allows independent investigations into misconduct, and requires police to wear body cameras.

No single bill can end pervasive racism in law enforcement, but the Justice in Policing Act is a necessary step toward much-needed reform.

President Biden wanted a bill on his desk by this anniversary, but the Senate still hasn’t voted on this bill. Quickly, sign on now to demand the Senate pass the Justice in Policing Act >>> [[link removed]]
