John,
It’s been an incredible past couple of weeks here in Indiana.
I’m beyond proud of what we’ve accomplished together during the legislative session –– and I can say with complete confidence that I’ve never been more excited, optimistic, and ready for what’s in store for Indiana’s future.
The new state budget addresses a number of key priorities: In light of 2020, we knew that steps needed to be taken to modernize law enforcement practices and strengthen Hoosier health. Both parties in both chambers worked hard to deliver these changes –– proving that Indiana isn’t just a state that works — we’re a state that works together.
Here’s how we’re getting the job done:
Improving Law Enforcement for Hoosiers
✔️ Invests $70M to enhance law enforcement and modernize the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. ✔️ Provided $30M to outfit officers across the state with body cameras. ✔️ Established de-escalation training for officers. ✔️ Investing additional resources to modernize and update several Indiana State Police posts and National Guard Armories.
Improving the Quality of Hoosier Health
✔️ Invested another $100M to fund mental health initiatives. ✔️ Invested $50M for the Health Issues and Challenges grant program. ✔️ Permanently extended telehealth services. ✔️ Funding all-payer claims database, giving Hoosiers realistic expectations of healthcare costs.
With many of these programs up and running, we’re already seeing a return on these investments –– and they’ll continue to pay dividends for Hoosiers for years to come.
John, before you go, will you take a second to share this message with your friends and family on social media? Thank you, Eric Holcomb
