What’s happened; what hasn’t; and what needs to happen next

George Floyd

Dear John,

At TakeAction Minnesota we believe we heal together in public. We believe in a future where Black lives are not only defended but celebrated. As a multi-racial, multi-generational grassroots organization we know our liberation is tied.

Today, we are remembering George Floyd – a beloved father, son, brother, and partner and sending love and support to his family. A year later, our hearts are still heavy. We are still grieving.

Join us at the community gathering at George Floyd Square today from 1 – 9 p.m. to be together.

As we look back at the past year, we clearly know that creating safe, joyful cities will take all of us. We remember how it felt when our communities came together last summer in Minneapolis to care for each other and keep each other safe when MPD did not.

We have the power to decide the future and chart a new path forward.

Here are actions to take today:

Let us know how you’re doing and what you’re thinking about today.

In solidarity,
The whole team at TakeAction Minnesota
