Hi John --
Thanks to your help and hard work, 2020 was the year we elected Kamala Harris as our country's first AAPI vice president. Now, Vice President Harris is using her platform to center the lived experience of AAPI Americans in our political discourse -- and warning us about dangers that lay ahead.
In a speech to the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Unity Summit, Harris denounced the rise in hate crimes targeting Asian Americans since early 2020 and told the virtual crowd that Democrats need to win in 2022 to keep making progress towards addressing that violence.
Importantly, she pointed out that Asian Americans disproportionately vote by mail and that Republican efforts to limit or abolish vote by mail would seriously harm our ability to have our voices heard in the upcoming elections.
We need more AAPI leaders like Kamala Harris to take these issues to the halls of Congress and to build power by passing legislation like the For the People Act.
Still, Republicans have been suppressing the vote for years and will continue to try to do so in the future. We need your help to be ready for whatever tricks they have up their sleeves.
