It doesn’t matter if a chick is born into the safety of a loving nest, or the harsh reality of an industrial hatchery... They all cry for mom.
In nature, chickens grow up to experience the world in complex and unique ways. They can learn to count, develop intricate vocal calls, and recognize the faces of up to 100 feathered friends. But today, very few get the chance to experience life as nature intended. To the meat industry, this little chick has only one purpose: to grow unnaturally large, surviving just long enough to be slaughtered for food.
He's barely a day old. He doesn’t know it yet, but his time is already running out.
Embedded in his DNA is a ticking time bomb. Selectively bred to “grow meat,” he has just days until his body begins to balloon in size. His joints will ache. He’ll struggle to breathe.
Perhaps the one mercy afforded to him is that he doesn’t yet know his fate. But for now, he won’t stop crying—in the hope that kindness is within reach; that someone, somewhere will hear him.
I know you hear him.
I do, too—which is why I wake up every day determined to upend this heartless industry and take on greedy corporations that profit from animals’ misery. Because I believe in a world where little chicks grow up to be more than abused meat-making machines.
The meat industry wants you to think that you’re powerless—but you are anything but. Answer his cries with kindness. Every dollar you give will help defend chicks like him from corporate bullies.

For every baby chick who deserves better, and for all the ways you help animals, thank you.
