TAKE ACTION: #BlocktheBombs today, National March on DC on Saturday

Dear Supporter,

We. Are. Infuriated.

We just confirmed that the State Department approved the export license for the $735 million weapons sale to Israel last week despite historic Congressional opposition.

This means that despite tens of thousands of calls, emails, and tweets you drummed up over the last week to get members of Congress to support the AOC-Sanders joint resolutions of disapproval (JRDs), the administration went ahead without giving Congress the chance to debate and vote on it, and rammed through the sale license. This is $735 million worth of weapons including the same type of bombs that Israel was just using to commit war crimes in Gaza.

This is maddening. We are not going to let this slide and we are going to do everything to halt this sale before the weapons are sent. We need all hands on deck -- here are 5 things you can do right now to #BlocktheBombs!

  • Come to Washington, DC this weekend, Saturday, May 29th from 3-8pm EST for the national March on DC to demand the US government #SanctionIsrael! Click here to RSVP & go to this page for bus information.
  • Call the State Department at (202) 647-6575 -- choose option 8. Leave a message for the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs: tell them they must immediately revoke export license number DDTC 20–084, the $735 million arms deal between Boeing and Israel.
  • Be sure to join our Virtual Gathering for Palestine this evening at 8:00 PM Eastern with Imams Omar Suleiman and Suhaib Webb, racial justice activist Linda Sarsour, human rights lawyer Zaha Hassan, and AMP’s very own Dr. Osama Abuirshaid and Josh Ruebner.

We are also excited to announce that Rep. Rashida Tlaib will be joining us tonight! Upon hearing of this State Department decision, she said, “The State Department should immediately revoke approval for this arms sale to, at minimum, allow for proper debate in Congress. Remember that these are weapons of war and destruction that will be used to kill children, bomb hospitals, homes, and schools—lives literally hang in the balance.”

We look forward to hearing more from her tonight.

Indeed, Secretary Blinken can revoke the export license with the click of a button. The opposition to this arms deal has been unprecedented and we can’t let this momentum slow down. It is unconscionable that the administration would unabashedly flout Congressional oversight during an unprecedented time of controversy. We are infuriated.

We hope you’ll take all five of these actions and then ask your friends and family to as well.

Toward liberation,

Dr. Osama Abuirshaid
Executive Director
