My fight in Congress has always been about you — the hardworking people of Georgia’s 7th District and the country as a whole who want to get our country back on track. I want you to know that I am listening to you and prioritizing your needs.

The survey results are in, and I learned fighting the climate crisis is our grassroots team’s top priority.

After countless wildfires, fluctuating temperatures, a global pandemic, and constant water wars here in Georgia, I am dedicated now more than ever to leaving a healthy planet for my son and all of our children, and I am glad you feel the same way. That’s why in Congress, I was proud to vote to pass the Protecting America’s Wilderness and Public Lands Act, which aims to reduce mining and drilling on public lands and help mitigate the impact of the climate crisis on our most exploited communities. This is a step in the right direction, but there is so much more to be done.

The fight for our planet’s future requires more than just preservation. We need to invest in environmentally sound infrastructure and prepare our workforce for millions of new jobs in a greener economy. I kept all of this in mind when I introduced my FutureFit the Suburbs legislation — a comprehensive plan to expand mass-transit, create and connect greenway paths between our communities, and redevelop abandoned malls and buildings filling holes in the fabric of our inner suburbs in a way that protects the environment. We are also working on better access to renewable energy for electric vehicles.

But not everyone agrees with me, Friend. While I am happy to have an open discussion about environmental issues, there are corporate PACs who think innovating our economy and protecting the environment will hurt their bottom line. They’re willing to spend millions of dollars to attack me and keep us on a dangerous trajectory towards self-destruction.
