John,
One year ago today, George Floyd's life was cut short because of the actions of Minneapolis police officers. Their abuse of power and disregard for his life was nothing short of disgusting -- and is too often the case for Black Americans.
Black Americans are three times more likely to be killed by police than white counterparts, and two-thirds of Black Americans don't trust the police to treat them with the respect and dignity they deserve. Here in Denver, nearly 30 percent of instances of force are against Black residents, who only make up 10 percent of the city's population.
Anyone who violates their sworn oath must be held accountable, and police reform is one step toward creating a more equal country for all.
The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act would enact sweeping reforms to policing. It passed the House this year, and we need you to demand that it passes the Senate. Call on the Senate to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act by signing on now >>

Diana voted in favor of the Justice in Policing Act because it will ban no-knock warrants, end qualified immunity, hold officers accountable for misconduct, and more.
The common-sense provisions in the Justice in Policing Act will save lives and make communities safer. The crisis of racism and misconduct in policing will continue if we do not take swift action.
It's time for the Senate to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. Reaffirm your demands for police reform by signing on now: [link removed]
Thank you,
Team DeGette
