Dear Friend,
On Sunday, the strongman president of Belarus dispatched a fighter jet to force a commercial airliner to land in Minsk so that his security forces could detain blogger and journalist Raman Pratasevich ([link removed]) . It’s a brazen, illegal, modern-day hijacking meant to quash an independent voice speaking out against Belarus’ authoritarian government.
Today, I’m asking you to tell your member of Congress to demand Raman’s immediate, unconditional release.
TELL YOUR REPS TO DEMAND RAMAN’S RELEASE NOW ([link removed])
This act is a direct attack on media freedom worldwide—if Belarus escapes accountability, imagine the steps other authoritarian countries may take to literally bring airliners out of the sky in order to imprison, torture, and murder their critics.
Take action now. Tell Congress to demand the release of Raman Pratasevich today. ([link removed])
Thank you,
