This Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month, we celebrated the generations of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders who overcame centuries of injustice to build a better future for all.

From iconic artists to musicians to activists, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have made invaluable contributions to our District and our Nation. But we as a nation must also recognize the inequities that AAPI communities continue to face every day. Violence against the AAPI community is not new, but it’s on the rise.

While we still have a long way to go before we see equity for all throughout our nation, please know I am dedicated to addressing the systemic issues of injustice and inequity across the nation. Just last week, President Joe Biden signed into law legislation I cosponsored in the House to combat hate crimes related to COVID-19.

Please join me this month, and everyday, in celebrating Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders across our nation.
