The celebration will include family and friends and a look back over Virginia’s amazing 90 years of success on the boards, on screen and as a leading campaigner for wild animals in need. What a life she is living! From her acting debut in Dundee Rep aged 19, to her appearance with Myriam Margolyes in the multi-award-winning film Wings only 18 months ago and everything in between, including Carve Her Name with Pride, The King and I with Yul Brynner in London’s West End and, of course, Born Free, the film she made with her late husband, Bill, my Dad, that would change their, and my, lives forever.
As you all know, Virginia’s abiding passion is the plight of wild animals. YOU could give her the best birthday present ever by joining us on the evening, donating to her Gift List or bidding in our Silent Auction. Lots include “Name Your Own Lion”, a luxury stay in Shamwari, South Africa (including a private visit to Born Free’s big cat sanctuary), six personally inscribed books by award-winning children’s author Lauren St John, five lavishly illustrated books by Pollyanna Pickering, one of Europe’s foremost wildlife artists, a Vic Reeves’ print and much, much more. All funds raised during the event will go towards the rescue, conservation, protection and welfare of wild animals.
