John —

Recently, we’ve been asking our strongest supporters to become Innocence Advocates with a monthly recurring donation to help power the work we do [[link removed] But it’s not always obvious why sustained support like this is so important.

Today, I want to share three ways monthly donations are critical to helping us fulfill our mission and reach our goals:

Monthly contributions ensure our work for the long haul. On average, our legal team represents innocent clients for seven years before they’re freed. Take Clemente Aguirre-Jarquin’s case — he wrote to us from prison in 2006, and in 2011, we started working to free him. But it took seven long years before he was finally exonerated in 2018. Monthly support allows us to keep the fight going strong for clients like Clemente, no matter how long it takes.

Monthly contributions support rapid responses. The legal, policy, and forensic science worlds are constantly changing, and we have to be ready to respond quickly. Revenue from monthly donations gives us reliable resources to adapt in high-pressure, fast-paced situations.

Monthly contributions are far more cost effective. This means that your dollar goes further with a recurring gift, and more of your money goes directly to freeing the innocent and preventing injustice.

We’re working day in and day out to free innocent people from incarceration and reform our criminal legal system as a whole — but we need your support to do that.

So please, if you’re able, will you make a monthly donation today to make sure we can continue fighting for the innocent for many years to come?

Thanks to Innocence Ambassador and board member Tony Goldwyn, the first three months of your monthly donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000 — so now really is the best time to become an Innocence Advocate.

Thank you so much for your support,

Charissa
