We want to say thank you to everyone who completed our recent Defund the
Police survey. We are so grateful that thousands of you took the time to
share your thoughts so we know how our movement should move forward in
this struggle for equity, justice, and liberation.

Reading your answers has given us so much insight into why you all are
excited to see Cori leading the way in Congress to transform our
criminal-legal systems. Here are the results we found:

* 65% of survey respondents said they support defunding the police in
their own community
* 68% of survey respondents selected addiction and mental health
treatment and affordable housing as their top priorities for
reinvestment

It’s clear that most of you agree it’s time to transform the way we
envision public safety. Cori does too.



Now that our team is finished reading through the survey results, we’re
gearing up to release a historic piece of legislation to make sure our
struggle to prioritize investments in our communities moves forward.

Cori has co-organized and co-led hundreds of protests in Ferguson in
defense of Black lives. She understands firsthand the pain of police
violence — what it’s like to be brutalized just for saying your life
matters — and the urgent need to keep our community members safe. That’s
why Cori is proud to center racial justice and criminal-legal
transformation in her work in Congress.

But here’s the harsh reality we face: We know Republicans will ramp up
their attacks after Cori releases her brand new piece of legislation. It’s
critical we prepare and make sure this movement rises up with Cori in this
struggle.
