When Gretchen was Michigan’s Senate Democratic Leader, she guided our state’s Medicaid expansion program, Healthy Michigan, into law.

And it’s been a HUGE success -- providing more Michiganders with care for chronic health conditions, treatment for opioid addiction, and easier access to reproductive health care services.

But Republicans’ restrictive Medicaid work requirements will bring that success to a halt -- making it tougher for struggling families to access critical health care services.

The law passed by Republicans will strip Medicaid coverage from tens of thousands of hardworking Michiganders simply because they aren’t aware of the reporting requirements and deadlines.

Gretchen believes that increasing information and access to health care will enable people to work and live healthier lives.

That’s why she’s signed legislation to increase awareness for Medicaid work requirement guidelines, soften the requirements, and has pushed the state legislature to consider suspending the requirements if they lead to coverage losses.
