Friend,
Yesterday, I attended the climate debate in Colorado Springs. All the Senate candidates were there, with two notable exceptions: John Hickenlooper and Cory Gardner.
Senate campaigns are busy, true. We’re often on the road. However, the climate crisis is too important to set aside, which is why we made time for the debate. What was glaringly obvious was the need for a candidate with experience in connecting multiple issues and working across various sectors to develop climate solutions.
If we’re really going to attack this crisis, we must do it with courage and commitment. We also must ensure those who are directly affected are integral to the solution process—people from low-income communities, indigenous communities, the fossil fuel workforce, those who’ve suffered from fracking in their own backyards, and climate scientists. We need a holistic approach to an issue that affects every single person in every single country on every single continent on this globe.
To accomplish this, we need leaders who are willing and eager to engage in conversation with voters on urgent and difficult topics like the climate crisis.
The climate crisis is literally a matter of life and death, and we don’t have much time to reverse its effects.
Please support our campaign to bring true, bold, and courageous leadership to the Senate.
In solidarity and health,
Lorena
