John,
In a moment, we're going to ask you to chip in to support our organizing efforts in the special election to replace Interior Secretary Deb Haaland's seat in Congress. But first, we'd like to explain why your contribution is important and what is at stake.
On June 1st, voters in New Mexico's First Congressional District could decide not just the future of the Democratic House majority — but the future of our entire progressive agenda. If Republicans flip this seat, House Democrats will only have a two-vote margin, jeopardizing the future of progressive legislation like addressing police violence or climate change.
This is one of the first special elections in Congress since Joe Biden took office, and the results in New Mexico's First Congressional district could have big implications for the rest of the entire 2022 cycle.
We want to inspire Democrats to embrace bold policy solutions to the most pressing issues facing Americans — which is why we need to be successful in electing progressive champions like Melanie Stansbury.
Electing Melanie won't only add another voice for working people in the House — it will also send a message to President Biden and Democratic leaders in Congress that we can win competitive seats while embracing our progressive values. In the state legislature, Melanie didn't shy from talking about the effects of police violence, climate change, or economic inequality in New Mexico — and we know she'll be a strong voice for working families in Congress.
With just one week away, WFP organizers are busy mobilizing communities, talking to voters about Melanie’s record on progressive issues. Will you contribute $3 to help our organizing efforts and send a message that we can win elections while staying true to our values?

The choice couldn’t be clearer: Melanie's opponent has staked his campaign on advocacy for oil drilling on public lands and support for unjust policing practices. And now, Republicans are attacking Melanie for her support of the BREATHE Act and her work to protect the environment because they know that she will fight the status quo they are desperately trying to protect.
But if we keep our heads down and continue organizing to get out the vote, we can hold this seat and send a WFP champion to Congress. Contribute $3 or more today to help us power Melanie to victory next week.
Thanks for being on our team, John, it's an honor to do this work beside you.
In solidarity,
The Working Families Party
