Dear John,
Through the American Rescue Plan Act, Congress temporarily enhanced the
Affordable Care Act (ACA) and newly incentivized the expansion of state
Medicaid programs. An article by Katie Keith has the details.
American Rescue Plan Expands The ACA
In the newest addition to our "Eye On Health Reform" series, Katie
Keith covers the American Rescue Plan Act
,
which was signed into law by President Joe Biden in March.
Keith explains that the legislation temporarily expands the Affordable
Care Act's premium tax credits and increases federal financial
incentives for holdout states to expand their Medicaid programs. Keith
also explores enrollment trends in states that use HealthCare.gov,
current ACA litigation, and ACA guidance from the Biden administration.
An ACA Marketplace is also discussed in the May issue by Andrew Feher
and Isaac Menashe. They studied the use of postal and email messages to
reach people who made plan selection errors in California's ACA
Marketplace. Read the paper to learn more about their findings
.
Today on Health Affairs Blog, Matthew Chin and colleagues write on how
COVID-19 is affecting the Asian American population
.
Also, Claudia Salzberg and Chip Kahn argue that COVID-19 will upend
hospital reporting and value-based programs for years to come
.
