Fake Clinic Chain of the Month: Birthright International
Birthright International is a Toronto-based anti-abortion fake clinic chain operating in Canada since 1968 that expanded to the United States in 1973. Their presence extends to other countries including South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, and other African nations. Birthright International has a wide reach, at one point claiming to have 300 fake clinics worldwide. Birthright International positions itself as compassionate and loving. However, upon a closer look, Birthright uses manipulative tactics. During a conference that was held in 2017, Birthright International had presentations available online highlighting the need to capture “abortion-minded women,” listing ways to manipulate women against their choice of abortion, including using prayers that can be said over the phone. It’s plain to see that what anti-abortion fake clinics operate on is deceiving people who think they’re getting unbiased advice and care, and instead getting treated with stigma and religious indoctrination.
