NY Residents:
Take Action TODAY to Support the Retail Puppy Mill Ban!
Bill A.4283 Will Be Voted on by the NY Assembly Codes Committee Tuesday, 5/25/2021
** Dear John,
------------------------------------------------------------
LCA is encouraging New York State residents to contact their Assemblymember TODAY in support of Assembly Bill A.4283 ([link removed]) , the retail puppy mill ban. The Bill will be voted on tomorrow, 5/25/2021, by the NY Assembly Codes Committee. Your Assemblymember needs to hear from you TODAY.
New York State is so close to passing this historic legislation, which would save the lives of countless shelter animals each year by banning the retail sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits in NY State pet stores, and authorize space for rescue groups to showcase animals. Earlier this month, the NY State Senate voted in favor of Bill S.1130 ([link removed]) - the companion Senate Bill. The next hurdle is for Bill A.4283 to pass the NY Assembly Codes Committee vote.

Dear Assemblymember,
I am contacting you as your Constituent to voice my support for the Retail Puppy Mill Ban, Bill A.4283. This Bill would ban the sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits in pet stores and authorize spaces for rescue groups to adopt rescued animals. If enacted, this legislation would save the lives of countless animals who are euthanized in shelters each year.
The majority of dogs sold in New York State pet sores are sourced from out of state puppy mills. The states of Missouri and Iowa are the leading suppliers of dogs to NY State pet stores. Investigations into puppy mills have shown breeding dogs in cramped, filthy cages.
I ask you to do the right thing and support Puppy Mill Bill A.4283. Thank you.
Sincerely,
