Friend,
As the youngest mayor in the history of Richmond, and as a Black man, I know when I speak about the dark history of race in our country my voice matters. I’m bringing a perspective long ignored to these complicated conversations and I couldn’t be more proud to participate. One way we can move the needle forward is by continuing to elect people of color and amplify diverse voices. Can you chip in right now so I can continue the work of electing diverse candidates here in Virginia?
A piece I wrote for the New York Times was just published as part of a special section on George Floyd and America a year after his death. This is an important topic for our city, and I wanted to share it with you today
“There are two epidemics in America: Covid-19 and racism. One is now 14 moths old, the other over 400 years old. Both are lethal.”
Thank you,
Levar Stoney
Mayor of Richmond
