In every month of 2021, state legislators in 48 states have introduced bills that limit access to the ballot box. That’s why Congress must pass the For the People Act -- and we need your help to get it passed in the Senate. If you have 5 minutes today, you can call your senators and urge them to pass this bill.

Some of these undemocratic bills have already been signed into law in places like Georgia, Arizona and Florida with others surely to follow. The For the People Act is about common sense reforms that protect and expand our democracy, and put the power in the hands of the people.

What is the For the People Act?
The For the People Act recently passed in the House of Representatives and is now being considered in the Senate. It’s the most expansive voting and civil rights legislation since the 1965 Voting Rights Act and would effectively stop voter suppression in its tracks.

The For the People Act is extremely comprehensive and includes several reforms that are urgently needed to ensure free and fair elections for all -- but here are some of the highlights:

• Institute automatic voter registration
• Modernize voter registration systems
• Expand early voting requirements
• Allow universal access to vote by mail
• Restore the right to vote for people with felony convictions
• End partisan gerrymandering
