“Home Rule and Local Land Control are hanging by a thread.”

John,

Last week Democrats voted, on a mostly party-line vote, to send HB 6107 to the State Senate.  This is the Democrats’ bill to strip local control of zoning and land use regulations from towns and give it to bureaucrats and elected Democrats in Hartford.

This vote completely ignored the input from Connecticut municipalities, local leaders and residents. Many have spoken loud and clear: they strongly believe in the principle of ‘home rule’ and do not want to surrender local control over zoning and land use.

We must keep the pressure on. Local control is hanging by a thread and we need every voice to speak out and stop these policies from commandeering home rule.
Undoubtedly, there is an imperative need to increase the availability and diversity of housing in Connecticut. The dispute is HOW to go about it. We must have an open conversation involving all stakeholders - including local officials. Solutions must come, but not at the cost of local control.
Please call Senate Democrats today and tell them not to strip your hometown of rights - say no to HB 6107.

DEMOCRAT SENATORS NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU.

Thank you for your help in this important fight.

Sincerely,
