Hi everyone,

Our chapter's monthly General Meeting is THIS THURSDAY//JUEVES at 6:30 PM! You can find the agenda with the Zoom link to register here. Una decisión reciente que estamos entusiasmados con era contratar un servicio de traducción para estas reuniones para que más personas puedan participar. ¡Ven y haz que se escuche tu voz!

This month, we will hear a presentation from the national DSA Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) Working Group on the struggle for Palestinian liberation, on Zionism as a settler colonial movement, the urgency of a full boycott of the state of Israel, and the interconnectedness of the Palestinian liberation movement to broader issues DSA organizes around (e.g. commitments to antiracist divest/invest campaigns, decolonization, military industrial complex). We will also have a guest speaker from DSA's National Political Committee -- the esteemed Jen from Eugene! -- to talk about the upcoming DSA National Convention, which you can read more about here. Our chapter will be sending 9 delegates to the Convention, and it is not too late to run! Email [email protected] to nominate yourself.

On that note, our local chapter Convention is also coming up. We will be electing new chapter leadership on June 12th, and we will be discussing political proposals that will shape our work for the next year on June 26th. Convention, both local and national, always involves a lot of moving parts, but you can stay up to date by checking out our local Convention hub here and reading more about the roles we will be electing here

Additionally, a number of our members provided protest support at last night's powerful Muslim Youth rally for Palestine. If you are interested in getting involved with our Rapid Response Working Group, which coordinates our protest and direct action support, email [email protected]!

Solidarity,

DSA New Orleans Local Council

P.S. New to DSA? Check out our chapter's new member resources here. You can also always email [email protected] with questions about how to get involved or about the work our chapter is doing. And if you're interested in joining our chapter's Slack, email [email protected].

Or not yet a member? The most important tool that the working class has is organization. We're strong when we fight together. We have to build a durable, mass political organization to wield the kind of power we need to win real change in our society. If you aren't a dues-paying member of DSA yet, join here
