John,
It’s been one week since Tennessee’s governor signed a bill that requires businesses and government buildings to post signage if they allow trans people to use bathrooms that match their gender identity. And this isn’t the first anti-trans bill that has passed in Tennessee: the governor also signed legislation targeting public schools and school districts who let trans students or employees use the bathroom of their choosing AND legislation banning trans kids from playing sports.
These bills are absolutely outrageous. They’re cruel. And they’re passing not because there is an actual problem, but because bigoted politicians are using trans kids’ lives for their own perceived political gain.
We must put a stop to it. And out elected officials in the state are leading the charge -- mobilizing our community to protest this disgusting legislation. We must send them reinforcements. Donate TODAY to train out leaders who will block and repeal these bills!
After North Carolina passed their own horrific bathroom bill, a huge wave of LGBTQ people said enough is enough – and stepped up to run. In Indiana, when Mike Pence thought he could get away with state-sanctioned bigotry, LGBTQ people fought back – and stepped up to run.
These terrible bills are already mobilizing out leaders and activists to run for office. And we have to be ready to train them. Donate today to help us recruit and train more out leaders who will repeal these awful bills!
Thanks so much,
Elliot Imse
