We're Going to MN to #StopLine3

Hi John,

Just like the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL), the Line 3 oil pipeline threatens a sensitive ecosystem on land belonging to Anishinaabe people by treaty and by right.. [1] [[link removed]] Just like the Keystone XL pipeline, Line 3 would carry oil from the incredibly toxic Canadian tar sands. The construction of Line 3 would be another chapter in the centuries-long genocide against indigenous people, and another step towards the total pollution and destruction of our world. But indigenous leaders tell us that next month we have a crucial opportunity to kill this black snake - an opportunity that requires more people than they can field on their own.

In response, over a dozen members of the DC Hub have signed up [[link removed]] to travel to the headwaters of the Mississippi River! We will arrive in Minnesota with hundreds of others on June 5 and stay several days (at least). We will use our presence, and our bodies if necessary, to keep construction frozen. But just like the indigenous water protectors who have been fighting this pipeline (and the fossil-funded government) for years [2] [[link removed]] , we cannot do it alone. Flights, food, and lodging are expensive. As a cross-class movement, we need people with resources to support people without them, because that's what enables working-class members to fully participate in Sunrise. So, if you have the means, we need you to help your fellow Sunrisers get to Minnesota.

Help Us [[link removed]]

If we raise $3,000, we can cover transportation, lodging, and meals for those who could otherwise not make the trip.
With $4,000, we can ease the burden on those who would struggle to cover their own expenses and have cash available for bail.
With $5,000, we can bring extra food, first aid kits, extra camping gear, and whatever else the indigenous water protectors need.

Personally, I am making this trip because when the conflict at Standing Rock occurred, I stayed home. This is another opportunity to join the fight for indigenous and climate justice, and I won't remain a bystander. I'm thinking of Brianna's email in April, in which she asked us "How will you make an impact before you leave this Earth?" This world and our relationship with it could be exceedingly beautiful; I believe in a future where land and reparations are given back, where oil is kept in the ground, and where we thrive with the rest of nature. I want my impact to make that future more likely. Please, pitch in and let's do it together.

Hope, Love, & Courage,
Mike Warburton

Pitch In [[link removed]]

TL;DR
- the Line 3 tar sands oil pipeline construction furthers indigenous genocide & the climate crisis
- indigenous water protectors are asking for our help preventing construction in this key moment
- 12+ members of Sunrise DC are answering the call & going to Minnesota in early June
- financial assistance is required! a minimum of $3,000, but hoping for $5,000
- your contribution could mean a working-class member has food & bail money
