The Biden Administration ordered U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to discontinue the use of two detention facilities in Georgia and Massachusetts. The agency will also terminate a 287 (g) agreement with the Bristol County Sheriff's Office in Massachusetts.

A Trump-era rule finalized on the last day of the administration’s term drastically increased fees across-the-board in immigration proceedings for those appealing deportation orders and seeking asylum.
In a letter spearheaded by the American Immigration Council and joined by over 150 advocacy organizations, legal services providers, and others supporting people in immigration proceedings urged the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR) to repeal the rule that immediately denies access to justice for economically disadvantaged individuals seeking a fair day in court.

President Biden assumed office with commitments to create a more humane system of immigration enforcement, curtail harsh enforcement activities, and reduce the hardship experienced by immigrant communities across the United States.
A new report released this week by the American Immigration Council analyzes the most significant changes to interior enforcement in the Trump era, the Biden administration’s commitments and accomplishments in restructuring immigration enforcement, and makes recommendations on how to create meaningful and lasting reforms.
