Look John, I don't want to scare you, but it's getting clearer and clearer that Republicans don't intend to fairly contest future elections, and they don't intend to give up power even if they lose.
Both The Washington Post and The New York Times have reported on the GOP's attempts to change the rules -- and remove the officials -- that ensured Joe Biden's legitimate 2020 victory was recognized. The Times reports that "Since the election, Republicans, driven by the lie that is now their party’s central ideology, have systematically attacked the safeguards that protected the last election. "
To say this is troubling would be an understatement. That's why I'm asking you to please help us hold Republicans accountable for these attacks on democracy and make sure they don't get away with doing in 2022 what they tried to do in 2020.

The Republican playbook has many tactics, including spreading disinformation to erode public confidence in elections, installing lackeys in key election administration positions, gerrymandering, and voter suppression. When it comes to voter suppression, here's a very clear example of their intentions from The Post 's lead fact checker:

Their overarching goal is to make sure that next time Donald Trump or someone like him claims to have won an election, they have all the tools available to back him up.
And frankly, that's terrifying. But it also makes me angry and makes me want to fight as hard as I can to keep them from making our elections meaningless. Are you with me, John? Will you help me fight to keep our democracy in the hands of the people, where it belongs?
