Hi, Supporter!
Today is World Turtle Day (yes! It’s a real thing) -- a day to learn about and give love to our favorite testudines! Here’s a fun fact to get the learning kicked off: turtles date back to the time of the dinosaur!

To show our appreciation, we’re raising money to support initiatives that curb climate change and help protect turtles and their habitats -- will you chip in?
Turtle populations are declining due to over-harvest and harvesting during the breeding and egg-laying months. Additionally turtles face challenges due to nest predation, habitat loss, water pollution, collisions with automobiles as the turtles move from and to nesting sites, flooding which inundates nesting sites and droughts which dry the wetland habitat required for the turtles. Most of the turtles that are commercially trapped are sent to overseas markets, mainly in Asia.

When you donate in honor of National Turtle Day , your generous donation will support the Sierra Club's work, including its conservation efforts to protect sea turtles in Florida's Everglades and other magnificent wild places, so they can be enjoyed for generations to come.

And, if you donate $39 or more today, you’ll have the chance to symbolically adopt a turtle (or any of our adoptable animals), which includes a 12" eco-plush sea turtle, a 16-page full color 8x10" booklet, an adoption certificate, fun animal facts, a sticker sheet, and a map of American wildlife.
Thanks for your support and happy National Turtle Day!
