John xxxxxx,

Recently, I spent several days working at our Southern border on behalf of detainees separated by this administration’s horrific anti-immigration policies. I volunteered my time as an attorney to help those who are simply seeking asylum from the corrupt and violent countries from which they've escaped. Legally, I’m unable to share their stories, but believe me, they’d break your heart. I can tell you those at the border have nothing—nothing but hope.
I worked alongside some incredible people who have dedicated their days to helping detainees and families separated by our draconian immigration policies. As a journalist recently stated “The cruelty is the point.” Because I can’t tell you about the asylum cases I worked on, I urge you to read the stories of the people who work with asylum seekers day in and day out ([link removed]) .
John xxxxxx, this administration—with the support of Sen. Joni Ernst—is violating international asylum law, committing human rights abuses, and violating our own due process laws. We must end private detention centers. No one should profit from detaining asylum seekers. The centers also lack oversight.

We must immediately advocate for citizenship for DACA and TPS recipients, reinstate DACA, expand protections and pathways to citizenship for families and end family separation. Detention should be reserved for those who have committed violent crimes. And, we must hold ICE and CPB agents accountable for human rights violations.

These reasons, and the stories I heard at the border, are why immigration reform is one of my key campaign issues. We have to flip the Senate and reverse the damage this administration has done.
Iowa is one of only five U.S. Senate races deemed “flippable” by most experts. I’m asking you to support my campaign so we can get our do-nothing Senator out of D.C. and replace her with a true progressive activist who will immediately act on immigration reform. ([link removed])

With your help, we can end the violations and abuses happening at the border and create policies that provide fair and expeditious paths to citizenship.

Onward to justice for all,

Kimberly
