Republicans in Washington are trying to end enhanced weekly unemployment benefits three months early.

The coronavirus pandemic devastated our communities. Small businesses closed, people lost their jobs and health insurance, and our children’s education was totally disrupted.

More than 20 million workers lost their jobs at the beginning of the pandemic — that’s why Michael fought for expanded unemployment benefits in relief packages.

But Republicans in Washington have created partisan gridlock instead of working for bipartisan solutions to help families or working people overcome the effects of this public health and economic crisis.

They refused to support the American Rescue Plan. They’ve bragged about “stopping” this administration. And now they want to rip away a lifeline many people still rely on during these difficult times.
