Voters should pick their representatives -- not the other way around.

That's why last year, Laura called for the formation of an independent, non-partisan commission to redraw Kansas' legislative districts. However, Kansas Republicans -- including former Senate President Susan Wagle -- are determined to influence and control our redistricting process.

Once again some Republicans in Kansas have proven they care more about the success of their party than giving voters the chance to fairly make their voices heard. Partisan gerrymandering is a form of voter suppression plain and simple. If one party has an inherent advantage in the way districts are drawn, our election system is no longer fair.

Let us be clear: No political party should have control over how districts are drawn.

Every single Kansan's voice -- and vote -- matters. We are from all walks of life and our legislative maps should be reflective of our communities. We need to raise our voices against any action taken by Kansas Republicans to skew our legislative districts.
