Politico reports that Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans will likely use the filibuster to block an independent commission to investigate the deadly Jan 6 attack on the Capitol.

The New York Times adds that Republican opposition is all about the 2022 midterm election: "Republicans see an independent inquiry into the attack on the Capitol as a threat to their push to regain control of the Senate and the House."
